A child paints a blank white dinosaur lamp in colors they choose, then turns it on at bedtime. It is art with a use at the end of it. Paints are washable, so cleanup is easy and the child can focus on the painting.
How your child plays with it
- Creative choice — Picking colors and patterns makes each lamp unique.
- Brush control — Painting around a three-dimensional shape practises steady strokes.
- Ownership — A lamp they made themselves gives a child pride in a finished object.

How to give it the Montessori way
Prepare a covered table with the paints, brushes and a cup of water before you invite your child over. Let every colour choice be theirs, and place the finished lamp where they can turn it on themselves.
