Each day in December, a child places one ornament on the tree. The countdown becomes something they do, not just something they wait for. It is a calm ritual that can be repeated year after year.
How your child plays with it
- Counting — Adding one ornament a day teaches number order and one-to-one matching.
- Fine motor — Pressing each ornament into place practises a careful pinch.
- Patience — Waiting one day at a time builds a gentle sense of time passing.

How to give it the Montessori way
Hang the tree at your child's height and keep the ornaments in a small basket below it. Show once how to choose one and press it on, then leave the daily job to them.
